Before passing unfounded comments, please take the trouble to know at least a bit better what you’re commenting about.

1. The 10% tithe is a biblical practice command in the bible. While freewill offerings (that is: any amount a Christian decides on his/her own accord to give–I should add that the bible teaches that it should be given willingly and cheerfully, NOT in response to pressure) are not mandatory, it is still taught as part of Christian lifestyle.

Irregardless whether you agree or disagree on the practices of Christians, respect our beliefs.

2. City Harvest Church has given more and done more humanitarian and charity work, in Singapore and overseas, with its budget than many people assume.

In 2008, it’s community worked helped nearly 21,000 Singaporeans, 8,500 of which a regular recipients of their charity work.

That’s not to mention their tremendous effort, one of the most recent which was in mobilizing not just Christians, but Singaporeans of other faiths as well, to work together to bring aid to Haiti.

They have kept their integrity and commitment to our Christian Faith and value system, at the same time if anything, practiced it in a relevant way and been model Singaporeans in preserving and upholding racial and religious harmony.

If anything, they are one of the greatest examples of what a true Church and true Christianity is.

3. Rev. Dr. Kong Hee has been an example to Christians all over asia and the world, as to what it means to have great Christian character, excellence and integrity in how Church should be run. He has never shy-ed away from living his life in the open and has done so with honesty, humility and grace.

Yes, he went off church salary around the time of the NKF scandal. How is that valid as an argument against him rather than FOR him? He has demonstrated that his life is truly FOR GOD and FOR GOD’S KINGDOM without any ulterior motive since it is now clear he gets NO PERSONAL BENEFITS from building City Harvest Church except to see lives changed through by his beliefs and faith.

To liken him to other religious leaders who have made terrible lapses in integrity is just baseless.

He works harder than any Pastor I have met or heard or read of. And he is now doing so, at the same time maintaining his family life with Sun and his son, on his hard-owned personal dime, not the church’s. He’s a man who lives for God and for his members and for serving the community around him. It’s hard enough being the religious leader of 32,000 people, run a business on top to that? Fly back and forth between the USA and Singapore to be with his family and still come back to work for his people the same way he has for the past 20 years? You’ll be hard pressed to find many religious or community work leaders who would do the same.

Contrary to the misconception that has arisen, unfortunately many times with valid cause, that pastors do nothing…the bible’s idea of pastoring and its requirements are far greater than most realize. And Rev. Kong Hee and the City Harvest pastors are the epitome of hard work, love and integrity. They hold themselves to standards even higher than what the best of society would expect of them.

As for people that are still criticizing Sun Ho, for goodness sake don’t be so outdated.

Personally, I’m rather disappointed at the standard of some of the reporting. Certain aspects of the report should have been conveyed more ACCURATELY instead of needing revisions–like the CNA report that used “RAID” only to revise the report to use the word “VISIT”. Its the responsibility of the press to report the news, but for goodness sake report the news more responsibly.

I for one, as a Christian, am proud to have a church like City Harvest in my country. And am standing with the Pastors and members of their church, hoping that the inquiry will proceed swiftly, so their reputation can be proven to be above reproach.

I picked this article because Kong coming off the Church payroll is mentioned during the NKF scandal. What this idiot did not realise is that they had persuaded 28 couples to donate separately to another account which then the paid salary, bonuses and other expenses to the Kongs. This annually came close to $2m.

No different in how some Catholics defend their Church inlight of the sex scandals, in how PAP supporters defend their party inlight of .. well u know what! No different from what we saw during the NKF trial.. etc. There will always be staunch supporters who will stick hard and fast to their leaders no matter what !

Yeah loh always focus on the bad side of people.

How can anybody be so unrealistic?

The only mistake KH made was to get involved in garbage secular music!

If making secular music is a sin I think majority of musicians are sinners!

How could anyone of us even judge!

Kong Hee has been found wanting ...in his testimony, we know that he live a luxurious life thanks to specific donors which were hoodwinked into giving. We know that he is not accepting responsibility. We know that his wife is no different from any unsuccessful singer. He has shown himself to be a fraud.
