SINGAPORE - He stood braving the rain with only his motorcycle helmet on, directing traffic away from a flooded carpark basement.
Instead of thanking him, frustrated drivers pelted carpark patrol officer Sivan with snarky remarks.
The incident happened yesterday at the multi-storey carpark at Block 335 Smith Street, in Chinatown.
The carpark was flooded after a water tank on the ground floor burst at about 8.30am, affecting the basement level and exit below for nearly two hours.
According to Shin Min Daily News, over 20 cars were trapped and about 100 vehicles could not enter the carpark.
When The New Paper arrived on the scene, Mr Sivan, who declined to give his full name, was standing at the carpark entrance - along the narrow road on the ground floor - diverting traffic to the upper floors and away from the water.
As the exit of the carpark was flooded, cars entering and exiting had to use the same route, causing a big jam and plenty of red, impatient faces.
Unfortunately for the soft-spoken Malaysian, he had to bear the brunt of their unhappiness as well.

The 34-year-old said: "Some drivers did not understand the situation and got angry and shouted at me."
One driver even snapped at him, telling him "to do your job right and better next time", he added.
