All Singaporeans should support the bus driver by not going into Jb this weekend, this will pressure the govt to drop the toll. It's a simple thing to do, at least it's the min we can do. Show them that Sg have balls, instead of allowing the govt to simply raise the toll which does not benefit us.

You are talking through your arsehole, proof that, you have not cross the causeway regular like most people...ME!. Walking across the causeway had stopped for a very long time, since the new CIQ was built....only in emergency, walking is allowed...so, if you don't know...

dont they know striking is against the law?

Which country's law were you referring to?

Note M'sian drivers were on strike in M'sia.

If M'sian authorities turn a blind eye to their strike, what can Sinkie gabrament do?

Sinkie laws cannot be applied ex-territorially.

SMRT has no strikes, only 'refusal to work'.

Totally agree.

So if one day Sinkie finance professionals decide to go on strike in Shenton Way, they don't have to give advance notice to the authorities, right? They simply refuse to work.

Singapore should raise the toll to $100 sgd per vehicle per trip. Then the iskandar project will flop.

Malaysian bus drivers stage "strike" at Johor Checkpoint - Channel NewsAsia

SINGAPORE: Malaysian buses ferrying factory workers and school children into Singapore are reported to have staged a "strike" at the Malaysian Checkpoint at Johor Bahru.

MediaCorp Hotline received at least five calls about the incident early on Friday morning.

One of the callers, Mr Tan, said he saw many Malaysian-registered buses ferrying factory workers refusing to continue their journey into Singapore at Woodlands.

He said this could be due to the imposition of higher fees for Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) on August 1, affecting Johor-bound and Singapore-bound vehicles.

Mr Tan said the "strike" by the bus drivers caused heavy traffic congestion at the Checkpoint. Factory workers had to disembark at the Malaysian CIQ and walk a long distance into Singapore to board buses to their workplace.

Another caller said the congestion at the Malaysia CIQ has affected school children travelling into Singapore. He said most of them will be late for school this morning.

- CNA/de

CNA don't even know LTA don't charge buses for VEP, only charging cars and goods vehicles. Anyhow quoting caller saying the Msian bus drivers' strike could be due to higher VEP, blaming Singapore for the strike unnecessarily.

The strike was due to the Msia govt tolls increase many fold on 1 Aug and this affects them tremendously as it is a per trip basis and that is what the bus drivers are protesting, nothing to do with Spore VEP that does not affect the buses.

Frankly I dont give a shit if mudlanders come to spore or not...give it a few weeks and these bus drivers also lan lan. Why should these mudlanders be allowed to operate mudland buses in spore? These mudlanders will suffer more if singkieland shut the borders to them.

Something is very wrong when buses need to ferry thousands of m&ds to work here.

The companies who employ them are better off opening their factories/companies in Malaysia as they can save labour cost by paying lower salaries in Ringgit and Malaysia also have lower land cost/rentals and taxes.
There is no benefit to local Singaporeans to have such companies here as they employ mainly foreigners and add to our traffic problems and cost of rentals/housing.
