But actually, many marry non muslims (who then convert for convenience) because they are not so religious and do not want to get stuck in religion. If you marry a muslim, then you are stuck in religious customs.

Not really, I know a Chinese guy who married a Malay-Muslim girl. He didn't need to convert or get circumcised.
Religion is like sexual orientation or political affiliation. There are more people than you think who are assured of their own choices. Also, there are plenty of Muslims out there who aren't that hardcore about their religion... if you know what I mean.
