14 workers from India plead guilty to unlawful assembly leading to fight with poles and rods

Fourteen foreign workers, aged between 21 to 39, pleaded guilty on Thursday to being part of an unlawful assembly in relation to a fight last March in Little India.

Eleven of them were each sentenced to seven months in jail, and the remaining three were dealt an additional week for stealing food and beer from supermarkets.

Mostly construction workers hailing from India, the 14 got into a fight with another group on Mar 31 2013 near the Farrer Park MRT station in an incident the prosecution called "a large scale public order offence".

An estimated 40 to 50 persons took part in this clash, including the fourteen who admitted their guilt in court on Thursday.They could face imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years and/or a fine.

In the event of a major earthquake hit Singapore and split the land into pieces with all sky views HDB towers collapsing and main structure damages, will these ex-expert HDB builders Ah Nehs come back to volunteer rebuild Singapore?

So far how many local Sinkie construction workers are in this industry? Any figures so far?

What is the minimum local construction workers required, Sinkies only, for contingency plan from government to support any disaster without foreign workers?

Do not abuse NSF soldiers to rebuild Singapore and take them to be cheap construction workers. Conscripted NSF are there to train to fight and defend enemies, not for construction use only.

What is the core numbers of local Sinkie construction workers required in a country to rebuild main damaged infrastructures in any disaster like major earthquake?

I reckon about 300,000 local Sinkie construction workers to standby in major trades like plumbing, concrete, crane drivers, truck drivers, carpenters and much more.

Perhaps it is time to think about this issue there are too many tall towers everywhere in Singapore 不得了。

Alarm bells will ring only, if MOM collect less than the number of "gold bags" from the workers levies....why they bother with National Security or the residents of that area or the people of this CITY that uses that area...when "gold bags' deficiencies happen...ALARM BELLS will RING...other than that..you die your business!!

These groups of law breakers should be deported after serving their jail terms. If allowed to remain in this country, it sends the message that they are untouchables; the Govt loves them; they could do anything they like in SG and do not face deportation. Whack these scumbags and kick them out before they over run this country like they are doing in their own shit hole in India.

If 14 of them were jailed, the other 36 scumbags should have their work permits cancelled. No sparing of the proverbial rod. Whack them and kick them out. The day of the fight could easily be likened to a gang fight of the 1950s. Gang fights were dead and gone after LKY whacked the pai kia mercilessly. Ah neh wanted to bring it back today?

Warning signs 15-20 years ago but all signs were ignored. Little India is not Orchard Rd or a posh area where govt needs to maintain a certain image. Just a miracle it took so long for Dec incident to materialise.
