IRAS issues alert on scam email on tax refund
SINGAPORE: Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) has issued an alert on a scam email titled "Your 2013 Tax Return Report!!!".
An IRAS spokesperson said the circulating email carries a message that a report on the recipient's 2013 tax refund is attached, and that they should go through the PDF attachment to view the tax refund report.
IRAS said the public should not respond to this email or click on any attachment or file from the email.
They are advised to delete it as soon as they have seen it, and refrain from opening it.
IRAS has also advised the public to scan their computers and mobile devices with anti-viral programmes.
To protect themselves from scams, phishing and other online frauds, members of the public are advised to refer to IRAS's advisory on scam and fraudulent activities on their website. - CNA/gn
