Swiss nationals in Singapore
At the end of 2012, there were 2,978 Swiss nationals resident in Singapore, of whom 1,090 have dual citizenship.

So what's going on here? Switzerland openly say on their Foreign affairs website there are 1000+ dual citizens. Government close one eye?

Basically, Singaporean borned get a lousy deal, because the Singapore govt is not transparent on this multi-nationality issues.
I see Singaporeans having to carry the passports of the adopted countries because that is what happened if they are dual nationality. Singapore govt will not issue passports for them.

If SIngapore is still an economic miracle, there is no need for Singaporeans to "go regional" or seek out employment opportunities abroad.

I rememberd the time when Lee Kuan Yew went to Malaysia and ask for a Malaysia for Malaysians. Not just for the Malays. And the Malays kick him and Singapore out of the federation.
But now I see a Singapore for Foreign Talents. Not Singaporeans.

What Singaporeans need is to lobby for a Singapore for Singaporeans. But I think Singaporeans would rather be a second class citizens in their own countru.

Bilateral relations between Switzerland and Singapore
Singapore and Switzerland maintain good relations and cooperate closely, particularly in the economic and educational fields. As a result of favourable conditions, more than 200 Swiss companies are represented in Singapore. Universities in the two countries facilitate extensive student exchanges.

Key aspects of diplomatic relations
The Swiss Business Hub (SBH) represents the interests of Swiss companies in Singapore and has branch offices in Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. swissnex promotes contacts in the fields of education, research and innovation. Switzerland Tourism has been represented in Singapore since 2012.

The Ambassador of Singapore who is accredited to Bern resides in Singapore. A consulate in Geneva represents Singapore's consular interests in Switzerland.

Economic cooperation
Singapore is Switzerland's main trading partner in South-East Asia. The signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) and Singapore in 2003, the first such agreement with an Asian country, resulted in a sharp increase in trade between Switzerland and Singapore. Switzerland's direct investments totalled CHF 18 billion in 2011, making Switzerland the fifth largest investor in Singapore after the United States, the Netherlands, Japan and the United Kingdom.

The Swiss Business Hub (SBH) and the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce in Asia provide support to approximately 300 Swiss companies in Singapore, which employ some 28,000 people (2011) in the country.
Numerous large Swiss companies, particularly software companies and banks specialising in wealth management and private banking, have a regional office in Singapore.

The Swiss watch industry is the largest exporter of goods to Singapore, followed by the chemicals and pharmaceuticals industry and the machinery industry. These three sectors account for approximately 85% of Swiss exports to Singapore (2010).

Cultural exchange
In 2010, swissnex organised the "PlanetSolar Village" travelling exhibition in connection with the Swiss "PlanetSolar" solar energy project.

Cooperation in the domain of education
Swissnex provides support to Swiss universities, research institutes and high-tech companies in Singapore and sees itself as a promotional tool and bridge builder for Swiss institutions. Its primary focus is on student exchanges, scientific contacts and cooperation in research. Contacts have been established primarily between the University of St. Gallen (HSG), the Federal Institutes of Technology in Zurich and Lausanne (ETHZ and EPFL) and Singapore's National Research Foundation.

Scholars and artists from Singapore can apply to the Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) for Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships.

I want dual citizenship too.

If PAP government can't make their citizens happy, at least give them the option to have dual citizenship so that they don't feel stuck and can only go after PAP to improve things for them.

Then NS in BOTH countries or NS is optional for all?...

If this policy of dual citizenship for FTsh is true, sinkie land is finished. Where is the core of true blue Singaporeans? SG will certainly become in time a trading post where people are here to make money only. IS sinkie land going backwards to where it started off in 1950? A colony of immigrants? It took LKY and old guards to build up SG but now this country is sliding backwards. Isn't it time to change the Govt?

Why drag out this official line from PAP?
If the govt wants some serious defense, they would have started a professional army.

But if all they want are compliant men, and cheap deterrants, NS is the way to go. One stone kill 2 birds.

The old man know long ago that to stop young impressionable men from causing trouble, like joining the commies, they should go for bootcamps and brainwashed in SAF.

True blue Singaporeans from a mixed pot of Chinese, Malay, and Indians? The govt seems to have other higher priorities.

Having a Singaporean identity is important in Singapore Inc. It is copied from Made in Japan. Japan good!

But Singapore Inc has moved on. It is now a playground for the rich.

Bottomline= FT's can have dual citizenship but Singaporeans cannot. Therefore smart thing to do for sinkies who have dual citizenship is simply not to declare and keep quiet ( unless you want to witdraw cpf lar). But otherwise, don't be goondu goondu and do what government says. Use some brains and initiative to retain parity with FT's.

Remember the first question on the 'Sg Passport Renewal' questionnaire ...

You can't lie, but then the Sg gov cannot do anything with Singaporeans holding multiple citizenship.

Men who served NS - Singapore govt is forever grateful that you served.

Kids borned overseas - better to return as FTs.
