In this day and age when social media reveals exactly what happened down to the last minute detail, these sorts of bullshit PR exercises don't fool anyone. If anything, they make things worse for the government because the whole world already knows what actually happened.
The poodles were clueless. They didn't exercise restraint. They where never in control of the situation in the first place.
Even when the riot squad arrived hours later, they did nothing but watch from afar while the rioting fizzled out "spontaneously" just as it had started.
