Deliveryman gets 24 months' jail for molest

SINGAPORE: A deliveryman has been sent to jail for 24 months for outraging the modesty of a 10-year-old girl. In sentencing, District Judge Low Wee Ping remarked how he was shocked when he saw the accused's criminal record. The judge said at the age of 22, most people would either have completed their studies or found a job. However, Mohamed Shariff had already received 24 strokes of the cane and been jailed 36 months. The accused had previously committed a similar offence, among other things.

Considering that the scumbag had previously been caned 24 strokes, what is 24 months jail time to him? It is like sending him to the chalet for 24 months of free food and lodging. It should be preventive detention + caning. Soft sentencing encourages criminals to run wild. Judges should be harsh to whack criminals. As sinkie land now has large community of FT, harsh sentencing is necessary to maintain law and order in this country. Judges should follow LKY's style in 1960s; whack them hard and gangsters rushed to burn away their tattoos.

caning does not help. he should go for therapy.Its not like he can control his urge like most of us.

hmm... if 36 months of jail and 24 strokes of the cane didn't help to rehabilitate this 22 year old. how would 24 months of jail term serve to rehabilitate the accused? castration plus hormone therapy should be considered.
