I tried my very best getting a juicer for fruits and vegetables but could not handle the veg juice. Even blended felt like puking. Got tired of juiced fruit. Now predominately a fish based diet. I admire you guys who can handle it.

I started juicing by including more of the sweet vegetables & fruits like apples & carrots, with a small amount of Kale/chard. As I got used to the taste of the green stuff I increased the percentage of the green veggies .

There's no formula. It's really up up to every individual to design a mix that they find comfortable with.

Currently I only include 1 carrot & 1 Apple with more of the greens: Kale, Swiss Chard & beetroot
I am limiting the amount of sweet veggies & fruits because I have heard that some older people who have drunk carrots long term have developed diabetes. Don't know if this is true but it is easy enough to reduce my carrot intake.

I'm including juicing in my diet because otherwise I wouldn't get enough fruits & vegetables in my diet. They have found that people who eat more vegetables & fruits live longer

If you look at the typical Sporean diet it is not very good & may explain why there are so many cancers out there.

Hi johnny333, first of a a big thank you for the constructive reply which really is helpful. I wish to start my juicing regime soon. I have a juicer that looks like the one I showed but its like probable the first generation type and I don't like to use it, the motor is so heavy. I will go shop for one today armed with the knowledge you gave me.

I may have some questions about this so I hope you don't mind to reply even if you had replied somewhere here before

two questions here

1. If organic stuff is limited here in Thailand for whatever reason and if I need to use non-organic stuff

a. What do I need to take note of the vege in terms of selection?
b. How is the best way to prepare the vege? (i heard using white vinegar but I can imagine it will smell if juiced but not if cooked)

2. How often you drink the juice? What is the best frequency? Do you replace juice for any meals? When does our body absorbs the most nutrients from the juice?

There's no getting around the weight. If you want a quality juicer it has to be heavy. I keep my juicer on my kitchen counter. The augurs( long things) are are kept on the drying rack.
The nice thing about the Angel is that it is compact & attractive looking:smile:

Whenever I visit the supermarket in LOS I visit the produce section. I notice that it is rare to see organic even in the larger angmo centric supermarkets. If you shop at a small place you can try to find out more from the owners the source of their produce. If you are using non-organic make sure to peel the apples, oranges, carrots,...

You can clean the veg/fruits by using a ozonator such as the one made by SOTA:
http://www.amazon.com/A2Z-Ozone-Mul...1396843492&sr=8-1-fkmr1&keywords=sota+ionizer
There are also ozonators that are specifically designed to contain & clean produce that look like this:
http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/EASTECH-Unique-design-and-multi-functional_256603579.html

I have seen these units selling in Spore, Malaysia & Batam. Let me know if want the details . I don't use the ionizers because I get organic Australian produce. Skin & everything goes into my juicer. As the place I get my organic produce has been in the business for years I can trust the quality. So I don't have the problem of selecting quality.

I usually juice once a day in the morning. I drink juice on an empty stomach to maximise absorption. The purpose of my juicing is not to lose weight but rather to supplement my diet with fruits & veggies. I also have other things for breakfast e.g.rolled oats, whole meal bread,.. At nights I sometimes eat un-juiced fruits

There is no rules against juicing more frequently. I sometimes juice organic oranges if I can find them. I use the same method as shown here

If you travel it might not be practical to carry a juicer with you. You could carry powdered super fruits. The following products comes in a compact cannister which is not heavy to carry around. I have tried some of these products when travelling.

Thank you johnny. I was searching for the brands you mentioned. Angel is out but Hurom had changed dealers so I need to check out the new Hurom dealer now. The old Hurom dealer is now representing another Korean brand Kuvings.

Know very little about the Kuvings brand but you can find out more on how it compares with Hurom by watching the videos http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=kuvings+vs+hurom
& reading the comments of left by customers at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_s...keywords=kuvings juicer&sprefix=kuvin,aps,417

Hi johnny, thanks for all the information. So far I saw the comparison it almost all point to Kuvings giving more juice. Anyway I've found the Hurom dealer. I'll go shop around for the ionizer vegetable washers later.

The powdered super fruits are made from real fruits. They are freeze dried & ground into powdered form. If you don't have access to "real" juice, it is better than doing without. I still include it in my diet. I rotate between the greens & reds.

http://www.iherb.com/Macrolife-Natu...&lc=en-US&w=miracle reds&rc=211&sr=null&ic=13
http://www.iherb.com/Macrolife-Natu...t-Rich-Super-Food-Supplement-30-oz-850-g/7386

I get the bigger cannisters which are too big to carry around for travelling. That's why I prefer the smaller cannisters of the madre labs products for my travels. I get the run down feeling if I stop supplementing for longer than 1 week:(

When you juice veggies throw in a handful of mint leaves. It adds to the taste.

Fruits contain too much fructose which is bad for diabetics.

Also, I am careful about where my fruits come from. Eg You will be shocked to find that the apples that I grow at my hobby farm has 3 times more nutrients than one imported into Singapore.

Also, the quality of the fruit is important, soil conditions should be optimal so that the fruit is growing healthy.

Sick soil produce sick fruit, using wrong fertilisers can make the soil sick.

When humans eat sick food, it cause problems for humans.

Used to have a garden in the old days. Had bananas, soursop, & chillis growing.
In the old days there were trucks going around selling cow dung by the truck load. It was potent stuff for the garden:smile:

I have my doubts on the quality of produce sold in some supermarkets like NTUC:o
Spore has a high rate of cancers and as a GLCs it's about making $. That's why I go to a health store for my organic produce from Aust. I spend about $50/week.
