George’s happy he’s Upgraded from Hybrid Regime to Flawed Democracy

Ex-Ministar Yeo has Upgraded, more will follow. Especially if the Scums in White refuses to back down from 6.9 million or put it to a referendum.

The Economist Intelligence Unit ("EIU") has released its 2012 Democracy Index and Sinkieland is ranked a lowly 81. We are classified as a "hybrid REGIME". Oops, some would say hybrid LEEgime! Sharing the same no. 81 spot with Guatemala and Tanzania. What an insult! Where is our Swiss standard of living - both tangible and intangible?

In the meantime, EIU has UPGRADED Hongkieland from hybrid regime to "flawed democracy", rising 17 places to no. 63. The Fragrant Harbour enjoys a "flawed democracy" together with inter alia Malaysia (64), Thailand (58), Indonesia (54) and the Philippines (69).

According to tomorrow's South China Morning Post (will appear in print tomorrow, oredi uploaded to the website today):

The annual index analyses the state of democracy on a 0-to-10 point scale. The scores are based on 60 indicators in five categories, including electoral process and pluralism; civil liberties; functionality of government; political participation; and political culture.

“Full democracies” score 8 to 10 points; “flawed democracies” 6 to 7.9; and “hybrid regimes” 4 to 5.9. Countries with a score lower than 4 are considered “authoritarian regimes”. Hong Kong scored 6.42 last year compared with 5.92 in 2011.

Simon Baptist, EIU regional director for Asia, said: “Hong Kong's vibrant non-governmental organisations, judicial independence, social tolerance and free media continue also to contribute towards its democracy score.”

On paper the Little Red Dot looks more democratic than the Fragrant Harbour. In practice, Hongkieland is (and has always been) miles ahead of Sinkieland in terms of democratic freedoms and ACCOUNTABILITY. Due in no small part to the lack of balls in Sinkies and an abundance of these round objects in Hongkies.

We should have realized by now that what Wooden Goh actually meant was the Swiss standard of living was only meant for the elite, not for the average Singaporean like you and me. Wooden Goh is a politician. Which country's citizens trust their politicians? None in China, Egypt, Russia, France, Italy, Germany, etc

We don't even have the freedom of assembly at any location we want, and have to apply for a permit to gather at Hong Lim Park.

Singaporeans should stop reciting the pledge, because it is a bunch of horseshit. The kids in school should refuse to say the pledge.

Schoolkids in Japan have the right and the option to not stand up and sing the national anthem of Japan, due to its imperialist/militarist connotations.
