A businessman convicted of 80 charges of bribery was sentenced to 70 weeks in prison on Wednesday.

Gary Lim Kim Seng, 55, had made payments of $2.4 million in bribes with accomplice Andrew Tee over the course of six and a half years between 2003 and 2009.

This was to ensure a flow of food orders from Swedish furniture giant Ikea.

The payments were made to Chris Leng Kah Poh, 52, then employed as food and beverage manager by Ikano, which owns the Ikea franchise here.

Leng was sentenced to 98 weeks in prison and ordered to pay a penalty of $2,341,508.
