SINGAPORE: A former Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) senior investigation officer was sentenced to 13 months' jail for misappropriating more than S$7,000 on Monday.
30-year-old Muhammad Nur Wagiyoh admitted to taking the cash, that was seized by CNB, between April 2009 and June 2010.
Muhammad Nur faced three charges -- two relating to criminal breach of trust and a third, for forgery, meant to cover his tracks.
Court documents stated that the accused used the money he misappropriated for personal expenses.
Having considered that there is a high standard of integrity expected of officers like him, District Judge Liew Thiam Leng sentenced Muhammad Nur to six months for the first charge and seven months for the second.
The third charge was taken into consideration.
The judge noted that Muhammad Nur had made full restitution but pointed out the accused had abused his position of trust.
