A J-7 fighter jet crashed this morning in downtown Shantou, a city in Guangdong Province, setting a
house on fire and injuring four people inside.

The air crash happened around 9am. The pilot parachuted to safety but his aircraft fell on a house in
the city's Jinping District, setting off a big explosion.

Three poeple were slightly injured and another was seriously injured. The injured were sent to a hospital
for fire injuries.

J-7 fighter Jet is one of the major fighters catering to People’s Liberation Army’s Air Force and Chinese
Navy’s Air Force.

Though the production of J-7 ceased in 2006, it still remains an important position in China’s air force
equipage for its high performance, flexibility, and low cost.

The J-7 (Jian-7, or F-7 in its export name) is a Chinese copy of the Russian Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 (NATO codename: Fishbed) supersonic jet fighter aircraft.

Can somebody tell the PLA that USA does not use Sabres anymore?

This is an F-86 Sabre.

i prefer the nothrop F5 Tiger aka poor man freedom fighter.

really wonder why PRC still maintain so many Mig21 for fark? make no economical sense at all. $$ saved by scrapping the mig21 could at least raise a few of squadrons of sukhoi 30MKK. can u imagine PRC still have at least 300 of this 1960s era relic.

instead of scrapping them, they would rather let them go the "last mile" by having trainee pilots crash them. cheap. provide ejaculation, oops i mean ejection lessons for pilots. destroy the damn decrepit jet. and take out a few defiant disgruntled home squatters at the same time. win-win-win. :o

They sometimes give it to the neighbours to score some points, like the F16s to Siam.

fighter jets are like currency. instead of sending money as military aid, might as well ship fighter jets about to face end of life.

These jets will eventually be converted to unmanned jets to perform kamikaze missions like the J-6. China have few thousands of these jets and it could easily overwhelm enemies' air defense with numbers.

For domestic use, should be good enough. Not every craft must be leading age. It costs money.

I always wanted to be a fighter pilot in Secondary School. Alas, my four eyes doomed my dreams. Any plane would do. In fact at that time, RSAF operated Hurricanes and Strikemasters. Would have loved to be flying anyone of them.

Cheers!
