34 arrested in massage parlour raids

SINGAPORE: The police arrested 32 women and two men in raids against unlicensed massage parlours in Singapore.
Police carried out operations against unlicensed massage establishments on October 24 and 25.
Officers from Central Police Division raided three such establishments in the vicinity of Kitchener Road and Maude Road.
Thirty-one foreign masseuses aged between 23 to 46 years were arrested for working under Social Visit Passes and for suspected involvement in vice-related activities.
Police are also investigating two Singaporean men, aged 55 and 61 years, and another 37 year-old foreign woman for operating the establishments.
Those convicted of carrying on a massage establishment without a licence can be fined a maximum of S$1,000 and to a further fine not exceeding S$50 for every day during which the offence continues after conviction.
Foreigners convicted of working without a valid work pass will face a maximum fine of S$5,000 or two years imprisonment or both.
