When a resident in a Housing Board block in Ubi heard noises on Saturday night, he got out of his flat to check. He spotted a man and noticed that fresh paint had been splashed at a unit.
Guessing that the man was behind the act, he gave chase. Someone who witnessed a struggle between the resident and the man called the police at about 11.55pm, requesting assistance near Ubi Avenue 1.
The 34-year-old man was arrested for suspected involvement in loan-sharking activities. Preliminary investigations reportedly showed he had earlier scrawled loan shark-related graffiti on the wall of a staircase and splashed paint at one of the units in a nearby block.
Cans of paint, a marker and a mobile phone were seized for investigations. The suspect is allegedly involved in other loan shark harassment cases.
