Man jailed for assaulting condo guard after rude gesture by resident

SINGAPORE - A motorcyclist was jailed for spitting on and punching a security guard in the face, after tailing a resident back to her condominium.
The resident, who was driving, had made a vulgar gesture at him.
Businessman Mohamed Lathiff Ali Kutty, 46, was jailed a month for assault and a further three days for causing annoyance by spitting at the guard, reported The Straits Times.
He pleaded guilty in July.
A district court had heard that Ms Lim Tsui Geok had sounded her horn at Mohamed Lathiff as his motorcyle was blocking her from turning right into Woodlands Ave 1.
He stopped and gestured to her in a manner as if to ask: "What do you want?"
Ms Lim then made a vulgar gesture that was not described in court documents.
After tailing her back to the Casablanca Condominium in Woodlands, he swerved into her path, before dismounting and shouting at her to step out of the car.
Security guard Chia Poh Cher, 54, came out of the guardhouse and got Mohamed Lathiff to remove his motorcyle.
Ms Lim then drove off, but the businessman turned his anger on Mr Chia, spitting on his face and punching him in the jaw.
Mohamed Lathiff was allowed by the court to start his prison term on August 27 so he could celebrate Hari Raya.
