Are you sure this is the wrong person?

The local media say name is Darinne Ko Wen Hui. Darinne is not a common name.

In NUS Law school, there is this exact name and the person was in 1st year in 2008, same as the person stated in linkedin.

TNP say she is with a local law firm and ST say she is with a law firm oversea. This person in linkedin is also with both local and foreign.

How can be so coincidental, right?

The former student named in the sex-for-grades probe of National University of Singapore law professor Tey Tsun Hang has hired criminal lawyers Subhas Anandan and Sunil Sudheesan.

Ms Darinne Ko Wen Hui, was a fourth-year law student of Prof Tey, who was charged this morning in relation to the probe.

Amongst other things, he is accused of having received sexual favours.

Ms Ko has since graduated and is now a pupil with a law firm here.

In a statement, Ms Ko's lawyers said: "Our client has not been charged and as it stands, our client will appear in Court to tell her side of the story when the time comes.

"Our client strenuously denies any corrupt wrongdoing."

The statement also said Ms Ko would appreciate if her privacy can be respected.

National University of Singapore (NUS) law professor Tey Tsun Hang was on Friday charged with six counts of corruptly obtaining gratification from a former student.

Court documents indicated that Tey, 41, is accused of obtaining gratification in the form of sex - on two occassions - and other items such as a Mont Blanc pen, an Apple iPod as well as two tailored-made shirts from former student Darinne Ko Wen Hui, 23.

She had also made payment for one of his bills worth $1,278.60.

These were said to be inducements for showing favour in his assessment of Miss Ko's academic performance.

NUS on Friday suspended Tay from his duties at the university.

'In light of the Attorney-General's decision to file charges against Associate Professor Tey Tsun Hang, NUS has initiated an investigation and suspended him from active duty,' said a spokesman.

'The University takes a very serious view of breaches of its regulations. NUS has a Code of Conduct to which its staff must adhere. In the event of breaches, appropriate action will be taken including dismissal for serious violations of the Code of Conduct.'

The Straits Times understands that Tey was arrested in April this year by officers from the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB), who were acting on a tip-off.

Ms Ko, believed to be interning at a law firm overseas, was questioned by CPIB officers but was not arrested.

The former student was said to have approached Tey for help in scoring a better grade for an elective course he taught, and supposedly struck a deal to have sex with him.

Speaking outside the Subordinate Courts on Friday, Tey told reporters that the charges against him were very serious.

'At stake is my liberty, integrity and livelihood. My reputation has been tarnished, and my family suffers as a result,' he said.

The Prof is Malaysia leh. Our judges can be foreigners har?

NUS law professor Tey Tsun Hang was in court this morning to face six charges in relation to a sex-for-grades graft probe.

The woman - a former fourth year law student - was identified as Darinne Ko Wen Hui.

He allegedly committed the offences between May and July 2010, allegedly receiving a Mont Blanc pen worth $740, iPod touch worth $160, and two counts of obtaining gratification in the form of sexual intercourse.

Tey is accused of receiving the gifts as inducement for showing favour in his assessment of Ko's academic performance.

Bail was set at $100,000.

Prosecutor said in court that Tey is considered a flight risk as he's a Malaysian when Defence counsel asked why his bail amount was excessive.

Look out for the full report in Saturday's edition of The New Paper.

Is she the one?

P.S: Immediately taking down your LinkedIn site after being accused is an extremely cowardly way of handling things, and it points to a guilty conscience.

i agree. its like deleting facebook comments.
or stop people from talking

Just a thought : Will NUS or Prosecutor be taking all those assignments was given high grades by the Professor and ask a 3rd party to grade them again to see if there is any fishy business?
