Three youths arrested for theft of school buses

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested three male suspects, aged between 15 and 17 years old, for a series of theft of school buses at Defu Industrial Estate.
Between June 26 and July 6, two cases of school buses were reported stolen from the car park of Defu Lane 10.
The suspects were believed to have forced open the doors of the buses and used the keys which were left in the ignition to start the engines.
On July 23, between 3.00 pm and 4.30 pm, three of them were arrested in the vicinity of Hougang and Punggol Estate.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the trio was responsible for at least five cases of theft and attempted theft of motor vehicles.
Both the buses which were stolen have since been recovered.
The suspects will be charged in court on July 25 for Theft of Motor Vehicles which carries a maximum jail term of seven years imprisonment.
