SINGAPORE: An unemployed man was jailed three and a half years on Friday for having sex with a minor and breaking into a church.
Twenty-three-year-old Zulkifri Said pleaded guilty to two counts of underage sex, and one count of housebreaking.
Zulkifri knew the girl, who was 13 years old at the time of the offence, through online social site Facebook in March 2010.
They became a couple shortly after and were in a relationship for eight months.
They had unprotected sex at HDB staircase landings in Toa Payoh and Jurong.
In March this year, Zulkifri also broke into Calvary Bible Presbyterian Church at Tao Ching Road and made away with S$1,470 in cash and valuables.
Zulkifri and co-accused, 22-year-old Muhammad Herwan Abd Hamzah, used a pair of scissors to force open the sliding window of the church.
They then stole an assortment of items, including digital cameras and a USB port.
Muhammad Herwan was jailed two and a half years in April this year.
