SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 50-year-old man believed to be responsible for a series of thefts at supermarkets located in Fusionopolis, Vivocity and along Orchard Road.
In early May 2012, the police received a report of theft in which eight bottles of wine and whiskey with a total value of about S$550 were stolen from a supermarket in Fusionopolis.
The suspect was also spotted in CCTV footages of several other supermarkets where items were reported missing.
Police arrested the suspect near Toa Payoh on Thursday.
Preliminary investigations showed that the suspect might be responsible for several similar cases of theft island-wide.
The suspect will be charged in court on Saturday with theft.
If found guilty, he could be jailed for up to seven years, and fined.
