ICA officer jailed for making false bribery claim

An Immigration and Checkpoints Authority officer who claimed that a lorry driver tried to bribe him was jailed for six weeks on Thursday.

Khusin Zam, 49, a staff sergeant, admitted to giving false information in writing to an anti-graft officer on Aug 3, 2011, that a driver came down from his lorry and was holding onto his wallet with some money, and that he immediately rejected it.

The court heard that Khusin was on duty at Woodlands checkpoint on Aug 2, when Mr Neo Ah Un, drove his lorry into the lane meant for motorcycles.

On being questioned, Mr Neo, who had six female passengers from China, said he had made a wrong turn and had intended to go to Woodlands Centre.
