Police arrest man for mobile phone theft

Police arrested a 27-year-old man on Tuesday, for allegedly committing snatch theft at Clementi.
On May 20, the police received a report where a mobile phone, valued at about $200, was snatched away by the thief. It had belonged to a 40-year-old woman, who was then at Jalan Rumah Tinggi.
Officers from Clementi Police Division managed to trace and arrest the suspect near Serangoon Road on May 22. A mobile phone was recovered and seized as well.
If convicted for an offence of Snatch Theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, the suspect faces a jail term of up to 7 years and shall be liable to caning.
