A site supervisor who conspired with another man to give a $800 bribe to a SPPowerGrid technical officer, was on Monday, jailed for three weeks.

Ng Ah Tai, 55, a Malaysian employed by Ley Choon Construction and Engineering, pleaded guilty to abetting freelance jointer Chua Kar Leng to corruptly give the bribe to then-technical officer Ahmad Aman, 54, so that he would not report truthfully to SPPowerGrid that the cable damage at Marina Place was caused by Ley Choon in March 10 2011.

He had transferred the amount to Chua, 45, who withdrew the money and handed it to Ahmad as gratification. Ahmad has since completed his four-week jail term while Chua was jailed four weeks in March.

The court heard that Ahmad attended to a power failure at Marina Street on March 5, 2011. After identifying the source of the outage, Ng was called to the site. Ahmad also contacted Chua, who came down and assessed that the damage was not serious and carried out remedial works.
