A lorry driver was charged in court on Tuesday with causing the death of a motorcyclist and injuring another along an expressway.

Lim Teck Thim, 53, is accused of driving along Ayer Rajah Expressway on Jan 7, 2011, when he caused the death of technician Khoo Boon Ann, 25, by failing to exercise care and attention when making a sudden lane switch from the extreme left into the second left lane.

As a result, the lorry hit a motorbike ridden by Khoo, who fell onto the road and was run over by a trailer.

Khoo, a bronze medalist at the 2005 Asian Indoor Games' BMX technical event in Bangkok, was pronounced dead at the scene.
