Police arrested a 33-year-old Chinese man on Friday morning for suspected involvement in loansharking activities.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division spotted the suspect behaving suspiciously while on their rounds in the vicinity of Yishun Ring Road.
As they approached the suspect, he fled but was detained after a short chase. Pieces of paper believed to be debtors' notes and a marker were found in his possession.
After the police asked him a few questions, the suspect was placed under arrest and the above-mentioned items seized as case exhibits.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspect had assisted loansharks by delivering debtors' notes to a debtor's residence to demand for repayments.
Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Assistant Commissioner of Police Hsu Sin Yun, commended his officers for their relentless efforts and perseverance in the fight against loansharks.
