Police seeking help over abalone theft

SINGAPORE: Police have reminded retail outlets to be extra vigilant against shop thieves during the festive season, especially when large crowds throng shopping malls and supermarkets for festive goods.

They advise that expensive items, such as cans of abalone, should be kept in locked display shelves, which are only accessible by staff and monitored by CCTV cameras.

This comes as the police are looking for a woman to assist with investigations into a case of abalone theft from a supermarket in Marine Terrace on January 10.

A can of abalone, worth S$52, had gone missing.

The woman, who is believed to be in her 40s, was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with a grey and black striped skirt.

Anyone with information on the woman can call the Police Hotline at 1800-255-0000.
