Apart from the beneficiaries on the monthly food programme, residents staying in rental blocks and studio apartments also received festive packs from charity organisations. Hi everyone - As we welcome the Chinese New Year and long weekend break, a gentle reminder to stay safe, mindful and vigilant. I just came back from the scene of a fire at Blk 624 - the cause has not been established. Luckily, no one was hurt, and that was down to the quick work of neighbours and the [URL="https://www.facebook.com/singaporepoliceforce/"]Singapore Police Force who assisted in the evacuation effort. The lifesaving force, Singapore Civil Defence Force as usual, were thorough professionals. Thank you to Mr Ramlan of the Housing and Development Board, and Imran's team from the Town Council for getting in touch with the neighbouring residents to assist them going forward.

This is story about 3 men who are masters of their trade - Anand, Ashraf and Ali who between them, have worked for the PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency (PUB) for a mind-boggling 83 years!


As I walked the Jalan Tenaga estate after visiting the some residents directly affected by yesterday's fire at Blk 624, I came to know of a water pipe leak at Blk 642 (uncanny number in the circumstances!).


Ashraf, the 31-years under-my-belt PUB veteran briefed me on action taken to alleviate the situation for lower floor residents at Blk 642, as a result of the supply disruption. A 500-gallon water tanker was in position along with sterilised 5 litre bags. Ali, the 37-year veteran and Anand, his team members were on hand to jointly assess if they would need to deploy the PUB's Emergency Support Vehicle, which is equipped to draw water from other sources, or adjoining blocks, amongst a host of other capabilities in the event the repair works were assessed to be more extensive.



The team assured me that they would endeavour to return the situation to normal well before the Chinese New Year reunion dinner later this evening. Complete reinstatement of the void deck area will take a little longer.


There is something about experience that one simply remains in awe of. It was a privilege to meet these 3 gentlemen today.

In the morning of 6 Feb, MP Pritam Singh wished residents of Eunos Division a very Happy Lunar New Year! Together with the God of Fortune (Cai Sheng Ye 财神爷), MP Pritam Singh gave out mandarin oranges at Blk 630 Bedok Reservoir Road (Market & Food Centre) and the neighbourhood shops and coffeeshops. Residents were also treated to a carnival-like atmosphere with calligraphy demonstrations and caicarture drawing at booths around the market.
