A DOCTOR was charged in court on Thursday with causing death of a cyclist and injuring another along Clementi Road last year.

Teo Tiong Kiat, 63, who faces five charges, allegedly caused the death of freelance writer Mok Chee Kong, 35, and causing grievous hurt to Mok's friend, chef Bertram Leong Poh Meng, 23, while filtering from the centre lane into the left lane and hitting the duo.

He is also accused of failing to stop after the accident, failing to render assistance and removing his vehicle without authority at about 9.25pm on March 21 last year.

Mok, who had a cycling blog and ridden in overseas countries like the United States, died three days later.

Teo, represented by Mr Chen Chee Yen, is out on $10,000 police bail.

The case will be mentioned again on July 21.
