Iswaran's political standing hit by CPIB probe, regardless of outcome: Analysts

Transport Minister S Iswaran has been placed on a leave of absence until the CPIB investigation is completed.

Media is publishing this because S Iswaran is a dead man walking, thrown under the bus by the PAP.

Did the media and political analysts comment that K Shanmugam's and Vivian Balakrishnan's political standing will be hit by the Ridout bungalow scandal?
No, because they were kept silent by the PAP who still find the two snakes useful to the party.

If the PM wants to interfere with CPIB, the CPIB director can go to the President for permission to continue the investigation.

Why would CPIB director wants to jeopardize his career? Just be an obedient dog, do what he's supposed to do and continue earning his fat paycheck.

We will not sweep anything under the carpet’ even if damaging: DPM Wong on Iswaran’s case

SINGAPORE - The Government and the People’s Action Party will not sweep anything under the carpet, even if the disclosure is potentially embarrassing or damaging, said Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media, he stressed that he and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong are “fully committed” to keeping and preserving the trust that the people have in the Government.

His comments come after the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) released a statement on Wednesday morning saying that Transport Minister S. Iswaran is assisting with an investigation into a case that the anti-graft body had uncovered

Teh Cheang Wan (郑章远)

Teh was investigated for corruption by the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau for accepting two bribes of $400,000 each in 1981 and 1982. Then Minister for National Development, he had allegedly accepted bribes totaling $1 million from 2 private companies for helping them retain and buy over a piece of state land for private development.[3]

In November 1986, the former Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew, approved an open investigation on his alleged corruption; however, the papers were issued to the Attorney-General on December 11. Though Teh maintained his innocence, he committed suicide before being charged for the offences, on December 14.
