I heard that when the UK Army bought the Warthog from ST Eng, they put in their own applique armour in the UK. Maybe the MEXAS is shit after all
NOT so........... the Warthog was armoured with tiles made from Al Oxide which is a lower class than silicon carbide which Deisenroth was thot to provide but he managed to hoodwinked STK incl Dr Richard Kwok who was in charge of amouring the vehicle but din know this slate of hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Clearly UK army wanted heavier amour not one which can only take GPMG fire. Deisenroth can con STK but not UK.
STK's subsidiary in Heinsberg Germany was even ramped up for production of SiC tiles with huge investments. How fuck up can you find?? Shortly after the truth is known, that subsidiary was closed selling the relatively new equipments to Deisenroth on the cheap...... to the tune one Euro on book value of 1000 euros! Get the drift of how a German screwed STK which has scholars in abundance???????????????????

Ok, that makes sense to me now. When the UK first took deliveries of 110 Warthogs they ordered from STK, they did not pass acceptance trials. As a result the whole induction into service with the UK was delayed by months. Apparently, the level of armour protection level claimed by STK was not what the UK discovered. At that time, I was surprised because the Brits had discovered their Vikings were no match for IEDs and other attacks in Astan and were desperately seeking a replacement for them. It was a very time sensitive issue as UK servicemen were getting killed in the Vikings every month that it was delayed. STK won the contract almost by default as they were the only game in town that could ramp up production. SO, was quite surprised to see UK delay acceptance of a vehicle they needed badly. But what you say makes sense if Diesenroth conned STK into accepting the vehicles with AL2O3 and claimed it was SiC. And when the British army tested it and found out it was not the level of protection claimed, they had to incorporate the actual SiC armour before it could be opeationally. Which means.................SAF personnel are riding around in a death trap!! Fucking STK and fucking scholar Generals who don't know ceramics armour if it was shoved up their asshole.
No wonder according to Leck, STK got no sales on the Bionix. Bionix is also using Mexas. If STK can misrepresent (or even worse, was ignorant) of the armour level on their own vehicles, what confidence do other countries have in a company that makes AFV that has never been combat tested, in a country that has never seen war, and lies to a large order customer (the UK Army) on the protection level of its one successfully selling vehicle?

Hans, thought you might be interested in this article. I have highlighted salient features. I think they must have lost money on this deal if the UK army (unlike the SAF) forced STK to live up to the level of armour protection they promised and make them remove the al oxide and use the SiC to get the level of protection promised by STK. SiC is 5 to 10 times more expensive. LOL. Makes me wonder whether anyone in the SAF actually took a Warthog or Bionix hull with Al Oxide and shoot it with 7.62mm AP, and then 12.7mm and 14.5mm ball and AP rounds. I think they might be surprised at the poor results.
LONDON - The British Army has begun taking delivery of Warthog armored all-terrain vehicles ahead of their deployment to Afghanistan. Deliveries had been delayed several months due to the need to improve the machines' armored protection.
A spokeswoman for Warthog builder Singapore Technologies Kinetics (STK) said the machine had been "delivered and accepted by the British Ministry of Defence." She declined to comment on whether deliveries to Afghanistan had actually begun.
"After carrying out a thorough assessment of the Warthog armored vehicle, the U.K. Ministry of Defence can confirm it is fit for use on operations. In a series of rigorous trials, the vehicle successfully demonstrated its ability to protect against the threats encountered in Afghanistan as well as operate effectively in demanding terrain. U.K. troops have been training with Warthog since March 2010 and the first vehicles are planned to deploy in the next few months for operational use in Afghanistan," the spokeswoman said
Two industry sources said some vehicles were currently at the British base in Cyprus ahead of Warthogs being dispatched to Helmand province in Afghanistan. It is not clear whether the Warthogs are being staged through Cyprus or are undergoing last minute work-up or tests.
The MoD spokesman declined to comment on whether vehicles were in Cyprus at present.
The Ministry of Defence signed a 150 million pound ($230.3 million) contract with Warthog supplier STK in 2008 to deliver about 110 vehicles. The first Warthogs were meant to have been in theater in April to coincide with the deployment of the initial operators, the Royal Dragoon Guards.
But questions about the level of armored protection on the vehicles meant deployment was delayed.
The first Warthogs were delivered to Britain on time last year but the machines failed to pass British acceptance tests. The Asian company has improved protection levels and made other changes related to an increase in vehicle weight.
The sale of Warthog to the British was ground-breaking for the Singaporean company. The British military buy ammunition from the STK but had never acquired an Asian-built armored vehicle.
STK beat BAE Systems Viking II vehicle to the urgent operational requirement, although the MoD subsequently also acquired 24 machines from the British company for the Royal Marines. The Marines were the first users of the articulated all-terrain vehicle.
The Warthog is a much modified variant of the Bronco vehicle already in service with the Singaporean military. The British-bound vehicles are built in Singapore and delivered to STK partner Thales UK for final integration work.
Thales has already delivered a number of training vehicles for use by the British military.

What a con job! This is where our $13 billion defence budget goes to every year. No oversight on any of the defence contracts. This is just a small contract of the many going on in MINDEF and SAF. Why couldn't they have set up the plant here? And why did they not continue to make SiC tiles in Germany instead of closing the plant, and retro fit to Bionix and Warthogs in service with SAF. In fact, they can retrofit to M113 or even the 350 plus AMX-13 we have. That's a market of over 1000 vehicles. Surely, that's economically feasible. Do you think IBD moved the tools they got cheap cheap to their US subsidiary Armor Holdings Defence and Aerospace? I am sure this factory in Germany cost over $100 million to set up, and all flushed down the toilet.
How well you can BLUFF is just one side of the equation, on the other side, the person hearing your bluff has to be able to discern that its bullshit. the greatest bluffer in the world is useless against someone who knows and can tell the difference. Also BG(retd) Patrick Choy as ex Amour Chief who was n still is Chief Marketting Office STK shud know this difference. Surely the product speifications cover this aspect in depth and detail...

When I was in Armour, Patrick Choy was, if I recall properly 42 SAR CO, and then later 8 SAB Brigade commander under Colin. But he only got O levels mah. One of the last farmer BG. After that, all were scholars. So maybe he can be forgiven if his chem and physics not too good and so maybe EM values and RHA baseline against AL Oxide, SiC, and TiB2 is too chim for him? LOL.
Ok, I thought the original 2 batches of Bionix 25 and Bionix 40/50 had the Al Oxide armour, and the later Bionix 2 had the SiC armour. But SiC should be retrofitted by now to the entire fleet of Bionix regardless of version. However, it sounds like they did misrepresent the product which is very poor form considering its the UK army and a prestigious customer.
Before Boey went to PUB, he first fucked up SMRT. People don't know that SMRT other than the bitch Saw Fake Huat has been run by a chain of incompetent retired SAF scholar generals starting with Rear Admiral Kwek Siew Chin, Boey, and now Dessie Quack. This country has been fucked by the PAP for too long now.
