I Love Singapore

I love Singapore.

Last night, I cheered Lee Chong Wei when he played against Lin Dan. I wanted LCW to win.

But I didnt cheer Feng, Li nor Wang when they played against Japan. I wont feel proud if Feng, Li and Wang had won the table tennis gold for Singapore

Is my love for Singapore growing cold?

Do many other Singaporeans share my feelings?

Indeed, you have ignored the PMs called for assimilation with these new citizens. Why are you such a bad person for not making them feel welcome?

I have nothing against Feng, Li nor Wang.

It's how the pap implements this pro foreigner policy and ignoring native Singaporeans that makes my love go cold.

I have nothing against the foreigners in SG. It is the bad pap policies that turn me off

LHL shouldnt open his mouth. Whatever he says boomerangs and turns Singaporeans against him.

How is it bad when Singapore can be represented by these "Foreign Talent" ? Without them, there would have been less event that Singapore could participate in. You want Singapore to be like India? Least number of medals per capita?

Singaporeans are indeed super humans.

The pap expects Singaporeans to asssimilate to the PRCs and speak to them in Mandarin because these PRCS cant converse in English and cant understand English. The pap chides Singaporeans as intolerant because they cant converse well to PRCs in Mandarin.

The pap expects Singaporeans to be accommodative to third world migrants who litter, spit in public, jump queues and speak loudly in public.

Does the pap scrutinise migrant labourer's qualifications, skills, etc as they do to Singaporeans? many of these migrants may not be as qualified nor skilled as they claim.

Does the pap scrutinise migrants criminal background the way they do to Singaporeans? I wont be surprised if many migrant labourers have criminal record back in their home countries.

Does the pap demand minimum skills, language proficiency of migrants like what USA, Britain, Australia do?

My brother got distinction for O level English and an Honours degree from an Australian State Uni. Even with that, Australia requires him to take IELTS to check his English proficiency and to access his suitablity to assimilate into Australian society. That is a responsible govt which makes sure that any PR, new citizen can assimilate into their society.

No govt is like the pap which chides and scolds its native citizens when migrant labour cant and dont want to assimilate.

sports is not just about winning medals. if we rely on importing foreigners to win medals and in the process kill the other aspects of sports benefits, then it's wrong and bad.

sports build character, build teamwork, promote healthy pursuits, unify a country, etc..we dont take the short cut to just win medals

When I saw the Japanese team, I could immediately identify them as a Japanese team.

When I saw Feng, Wang and Li, I could not identify them as a "Singapore" team. Just cannot.

is earning $2B revenue a year from the two casinos good or bad for Singapore and Singaporeans? the pap will say it's good. i say it's bad...

likewise is getting an all PRC team to win medals for SG good or bad? The pap say it's good..I say it's bad because it kills sports in SG, etc

You know, I always thought you'll make a good minister overseas. Very vocal and passionate. Wish you brother the best of luck in Aussieland, Sydney? Give us a pm here if he needs any help here in the emigration folder.

I agree... the bigger problem is that taking a short cut like that will kill the benefits of sports in SG and for all singaporeans. we should aim to make all singaporeans do sports and make singapore ointo a sporting nation

my brother is like me...he feels for SG.

if he migrates, it is not that he doesnt love SG, it's just that he doesnt agree with pap's bad policy of putting foreigners ahead of Singaporeans.

the pap might gain some PRCs with its liberal migrant policy but it loses many singaporean sons and daughters. the pap may brush these Singaporean sons and daughters and call them quitters, but many elderly singaporeans are suffering because of unwise pap. Can these PRCs gained match the loss of our Singaporean children to AUs, UK, USA?

just like what the pap did many years ago with its 2nd language policy which caused many singapore families to migrate.

this liberal influx policy is going to come back to haunt SG like the "Stop-At-Two" and "Compulsory Mandarin for Admission to NUS" policy

Look at the high standard the aussies expect and demand of their migrant labour, PRs and new citizens. that's how it shd be. Foreigners should level up the country and not pull it down with 3rd world social behaviours.

Look at the way the pap throws permanent residency to lowly qualified, socially awkward foreigners!!

tell me whether it bodes well for Singapore's future with such an ill-conceived pap policy?

Indeed, I've reached a stage where, it does not matter if you leave or stay as long as you are happy. A lot of Singaporean that migrated still feels the same towards the country. People migrate for many reasons. Aussieland used to have a liberal open door policy like Singapore. Anyone that has a cert from TAFE, ITE-poly equivalent, could migrate under the Howard government. This changed when Labor came into power and stopped the massive migrations that is happening then. Your brother needing to take IELTs is part of the results. Unless Singapore can change their government and send a strong signal that we do not appreciate this sort of policy nothing much will change. Anything else about "we are sorry", "its and honest mistake", are just lip service. But is a change of government really possible? Even for the next GE? I highly doubt so. Perhaps leaving the country is the best option for both your health and happiness.
